To mark the annual Energy Fair & Sweden’s Energy Forum, we would like to highlight an individual, a company or a public authority that has done something exemplary which others should take note of!
The Progress Award is not something you apply for yourself. It is something that others believe you deserve. So take this opportunity to nominate someone you admire or appreciate – someone who has helped you or simply been particularly talented and contributed to Sweden’s development in the energy sector!
This can range from new strategies, procurement methods, training programmes or partnerships to technical innovations that drive progress in various areas of the energy system.

Winner of the Energy Progress Award of the Year: NKT High Voltage Cables and Borealis
The cable manufacturer NKT and the plastics manufacturer Borealis are two Swedish companies which, through a long-standing and close collaboration, have created a world-leading product for the transmission of high-voltage electricity with correspondingly low energy losses. This demand has led to a spectacular and successful scaling-up of the business. The company is now continuing to develop both its research and development activities and its production capacity in order to maintain its world-leading position. They will therefore share the prize for the 2026 Energy Progress Award.

Together with Borouge International, we have worked for several decades to develop advanced HVDC power cable technology and apply it in concrete projects across Europe. The cable manufacturer NKT High Voltage Cables and the manufacturer of insulator materials, Borealis, are two companies in Sweden which, through a long-standing and close collaboration, have created a world-leading product for the transmission of electricity at high voltage and, consequently, with low energy losses. Demand has led to a spectacular and successful scaling-up of the business. The companies are now continuing to develop both research and development and expanded production capacity in order to maintain their world-leading position.

Jury & assessment criteria
The Progress Award is presented by the Conference Council of the Swedish Energy Forum, whilst taking into account any potential conflicts of interest. The jury may choose to recognise several achievements in different areas of the energy system.
